Bacon & Bourbon Steak Sauce
Serves 6
A rich, delicious and a little smoky steak sauce that you will want to drink after the steak is long gone
Prep Time - 10 min
Cook Time - 30 min
Total Time - 45 min
Ingredients
1/2 cup red wine
3 garlic cloves
1 tsp dried basil
1 1/4 cup beef stock
1 cup chicken stock
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp. pepper
1 tsp salt
4 bacon slices, chopped
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp bourbon
Instructions
1.In a large sauce pot bring wine, garlic & basil to a boil and continue to boil until liquid is reduced by half
2.Add in beef stock, chicken stock, tomato paste, pepper & salt and return to a boil and let liquid reduce by half again
3.In a sauté pan cook chopped bacon, over medium-high heat, until crispy
4.Remove bacon and set aside
5.Whisk in flour to the bacon drippings and continue to stir constantly until flour is browning
6.Whisk in the reduced liquid to the flour and continue to cook until sauce thickens
7.Add in cooked bacon & bourbon to the sauce and cook for a couple of minutes to cook the alcohol off
8.Serve over your steak and some great bread!!
