If you listen to the words, It IS Relevant Today. We are "Fighting The Good Fight"
Song Fact: The title is a biblical reference culled from 2 Timothy: 4:7 when St. Paul says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Paul wrote the letter while he was in a Roman prison for two years at a time when Christians were being persecuted under the reign of Emperor Nero. Knowing he'd most likely die for his faith, he was comforted by the fact that he "fought the good fight." (He was executed not long after, probably around 67 AD.)
1st 3 Lyrics:
The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long
Feels like we're running out of time
Every day it seems much harder tellin' right from wrong
You got to read between the lines
Don't get discouraged, don't be afraid, we can
Make it through another day
Make it worth the price we pay
The Good Book says it's better to give than to receive
I do my best to do my part
Nothin' in my pockets I got nothin' up my sleeve
I keep my magic in my heart
